This year’s theme for Racial Harmony Day is ‘The Singapore Way’. We started the celebration one week before Racial Harmony Day with traditional games daily in the indoor basketball court and Racial Harmony Day pre-activities during Social Studies lessons. The pre-activities helped the students to understand that building and maintaining the harmonious relationship between the different races depends on them, and reinforced the importance of racial harmony.

On the day of the celebration, students and staff watched a skit put up by our Speech and Drama Club. The skit was put up based on this year’s theme. After the concert and quiz session, students proceed to their respective CCAs and played the various traditional games within CCA. The objective is to promote racial harmony and strengthen the racial integration bond within each CCA group which consist of mixed groups of students. During recess, students also get to visit the interactive cultural booths and the traditional game stalls in the indoor basketball court. Students got to participate in hands-on activities such as Chinese calligraphy and making of Malay Bunga Manggar. Through these activities, students learnt to appreciate the culture and traditions of the different races.
